Antental & Postnatal Care and Home Birth in Warwickshire

Sarah from Warwickshire, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Sarah wanted support in both antenatal and postnatal along with support for her home birth.

Private midwives provided full antenatal support from the early part of her pregnancy all the way through the birth and then provided postnatal support for the following 2 weeks after the arrival.

We asked Sarah if she would be happy to give us some feedback of both her experience and the way Private Midwives supported her during this happy time, here are the answers Sarah gave:

How are things following the birth?

  • Great - I had no tears or stitches and made a quick recovery. Jean was great with icing my loads of confidence and the right level of support to set me up as a new first time mummy.

How did everything go?

  • Well it wasn't the home birth I wanted (I had pretty in effective contractions that went on and on and ended up in hospital being induced). That said the actual delivery was amazing. I had Jean and my partner there advocating for me and supporting my decisions - which made a massive difference. I had a epidural and the oxytocin drip. I had been pushing for a while and had made progress but the doctor felt i needed assistance and wanted to cut my perineum (which I had been blummin religiously massaging for the last month so no way was that happening and I felt I could keep pushing and do this). Jean agreed and absolutely supported my decision, had she not been there backing me up I might have caved or the doctor may have ignored me. I also think it gave the midwife at the hospital the confidence to also be supportive. In the end 20 mins later out can my lovely boy, just a slight bruise for me and nothing else!!
