A Hospital Birth in Hertfordshire

Amy contacted Private Midwives based on a recommendation from a friend. She was considering a private midwife as she was feeling nervous about the care she might receive in the NHS given the pressures of covid in recent years.

The day before Amy met with our midwife Carole, she found out she was having twins. Unfortunately, she lost one of the twins during the pregnancy which made her really anxious and nervous about the rest of her pregnancy. She opted to have a planned c-section and our midwife, Carole, was at hand to keep her at ease throughout the entire pregnancy and birth of her beautiful daughter, Evie.

Amy has kindly shared her birth story experience and some great pictures of baby Evie:

Amy's Birth Experience:

  • In October 2021, I contacted Private Midwives as I had heard good things from a friend of mine and I was feeling nervous about the care I might receive in the NHS given the pressures of covid etc in recent years. The admin team quickly assigned Carole who we met very quickly.

The day before we met Carole, we found out we were having twins which was both good news and a bit of a shock! Carole immediately talked us through the additional things for consideration with twins and kept us calm. About a month later, we lost one of the twins which turned an already nervous pregnancy into a very anxious pregnancy for me! In the following weeks and months, Carole spent a lot of time giving us advice, checking both mine and the babies wellbeing and making sure everything was progressing well.

She is so friendly and approachable, I felt I could call her anytime (and did when I didn’t feel the baby moving a couple of times and a bout of Covid!). I opted to have a planned c-section because of my anxiety and Carole was brilliant at preparing me for what was to happen.

On 31st May 2022, we welcomed our daughter Evie and I can feel in myself I have moved from being a very anxious pregnant lady to a confident, relaxed mother - and this was in part due to the care and support given by Carole. Thanks for everything :)
