If you are travelling to the UK to have your baby and you have private medical insurance, you may need to obtain a pre-authorisation code from your insurer if you wish to make a claim. In most cases we ask you to pay upfront for our fees and claim the money back yourself from your insurance company. In some cases, depending on your insurer, we accept a deposit and we can then claim the money back direct from your insurance company. Please discuss this with us. We will supply you with detailed receipts to assist you with claiming back from your insurance company.
If you are NOT entitled to free NHS care and wish to use NHS facilities, additional NHS fees will apply. These are billed direct by the NHS. You will need to contact the hospital of your choice to establish their fees and obtain permission to access their services. You may choose to have some aspects of care from your private midwife - for example antenatal and postnatal care, and just use NHS facilities for birth. Alternatively, you may want your private midwife with you during birth as well - someone you know and trust to ensure you are never left alone and everything is explained to you.
The following page shows you the options available to you. You can choose from Antenatal & Postnatal services, Birth Support only and all inclusive Home Birth or all inclusive Hospital Birth Packages:
