Private Midwife - Hypno Birthing, Antenatal and Hospital birth in Nottingham

We are more than happy to share our experiences with you as it was amazing!

We lived in China just before our baby was born and I was very nervous to return back to the UK so late (32 weeks) when I hadn't had any contact with the NHS e.t.c.

Before I even returned, our fabulous private midwife , Andre Hansel-Hides, was already emailing me. Her reassurance and advice helped tremendously and it really eased my journey back to the UK. In China, they had questioned low lying placenta and Andrea was keen to assure me how normal this was and that it would probably move up - it did!
Her emails were friendly, approachable and she was so quick to reply to any questions I had. She asked for my full notes and it was clear that she had read them thoroughly when we met. These emails continued until my return to the UK.

I had many appointments with Andrea in the lead up to the birth. She came to the house and chatted about what could happen and prepared me for all outcomes. I am a very anxious person and she really reassured me about what would happen. She took her time to answer any questions that my family might have also. As we got closer to the due date, Andrea spent time giving massages and hypno birthing which helped a great deal to ease my anxiety. At 36 weeks, I began to feel fewer movements from the baby and needed extra checks at the hospital. Andrea was always available to call after to talk through my appointments and any discussions I had had from the doctors. During this time, the doctors made a decision to induce me. In the days leading up to my planned induction, Andrea came to visit me every evening and gave me relaxing strategies and massages.

She was there with me from the very beginning of my induction and this really helped ensure the whole journey started off calm and controlled. During my birth, she was calm and supportive. She knew exactly when to step in and when to allow me and my husband those precious moments. I remained calm through out the whole thing and even when I was taken quickly to theatre for forceps.

Andrea was incredible. When people ask me how the birth went, and I tell them everything that happened, they can't believe how positive I am about the whole experience. This was honestly down to Andrea, she was unbelievable and the best support. She really became part of the family in the run up and just after the birth. When my sister has her first baby, we would love to have Andrea again!
