A Jigsaw Puzzle

by Private Midwives / Monday, 19 May 2014 / Published in Home Birth, Labour, Labour & Birth, Working with UKBC

Birth is a very instinctual process and could be described as a big “jigsaw”, every piece needing to fit tightly to create the full picture.

Birth environment is one of the very important pieces to the birth jigsaw. If it is not the right piece it will not fit and the jigsaw will be incomplete!

Each and every woman has for herself her own jigsaw puzzle, therefore the birth environment jigsaw piece needs to be just right for her for her own complete picture. This highlights that if the environment is not right for her, the labour and birth does not unfold in the way the woman hopes or maybe what nature intended.

At UK Birth Centres we are unique in our service provision in that we can support women regardless of risk, in whatever birth environment is right for her and which is considered safe and appropriate. We have the optimum chance of completing the full jigsaw puzzle for every woman! Therefore there is an increased chance of an instinctual birth, one in which the woman feels empowered and both her and the baby are more likely to be healthy.

Working in collaboration with the NHS in many trusts throughout the UK, we can support those women who maybe do not feel “safe” to be at home and maybe also fear the medical environment of a busy “clinical” hospital.

In a private suite model, women are supported in a home from home environment by midwives they know and trust. Having her own midwife every step of the way and added guarantee of a known  back up midwife if labour is long, the woman is likely to feel in control and more likely to achieve birth without unnecessary intervention.

With the launch of the latest NICE guidelines, it is recognised that low risk healthy women do best in a birth environment that is free from medical hurdles, at home or in a midwife led unit. The private birth suite option is an ideal choice for those women who want to labour at home with a dedicate midwife and stay there if she chooses, or transfer with her midwife to an environment where she can continue to birth in a place that is conducive to natural birth.

For more information on the Private Birth Suite package or to find the nearest Private Suite to you please contact UK Birth Centres on 0800 3800 579 or email infor@ukbirthcentres.com.

We will be introducing new NHS partners over the coming months and will keep you posted.
