Midwives are the specialists in pregnancy and birth!
We believe that the midwife’s role is to assist and care for women; to understand the birth process emotionally, mentally and physically and to support and educate women to be able to make informed choices.
Private Midwives has believed for some time through it’s own practice that having a known midwife supporting women throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal weeks has tremendous benefits to mother and baby. By building a relationship of trust with their known midwife, this enables women to feel engaged and more in control of the ‘unknowns’ that pregnancy and birth often raise. It is our experience that through this relationship with their dedicated private midwife women and their partners feel more ‘empowered’ and it leads to women being:
- More likely to have shorter labours
- Less likely to need drugs
- More likely to have a normal birth
- Less likely to have forceps or caesareans
- More likely to successfully breastfeed their baby
- Less likely to suffer postnatal depression
- More likely to be happy with the overall experience
It is good to see that more research is being conducted into the relationship between a women and a midwife and that the statistics that are being compiled demonstrate the important role and positive benefits that a midwife has to help women to achieve a positive and where appropriate an intervention free birth.
This is why we provide individualised midwifery support and continuity of care; which means our clients have a dedicated midwife throughout their pregnancy and birth of their baby.
