International Day of the Midwife

by Jo Watson / Wednesday, 29 April 2015 / Published in Home Birth, Labour, Labour & Birth, Meet the Midwife, Midwife, Newborn Care

Tuesday May 5th is International Day of the Midwife and gives us all time to celebrate Midwives and their role in providing the best care for Mothers and Babies.

“Midwives changing the world one family at a time” sends a strong signal that midwives provide care that changes families, communities and the world by saving the lives of mothers and babies. International Day of the Midwife highlights the importance of midwives and their work on a local as well as global level.

A society that places a low value on its mothers and the process of birth will suffer an array of negative repercussions for doing so. Good beginnings make a positive difference in the world, so it is worth our while to provide the best possible care for mother and babies throughout this extraordinarily influential part of life. (“Birth Matters: A midwife’s Manifesto” by Ina May.)

Here at Private Midwives we agree that women deserve the very best Gold Standard of care during this highly important part of their life and we owe it to our babies to give them the very best beginnings.

To celebrate International Day of the Midwife, Private Midwives have teamed up with The Healthy Spirit in Didsbury to provide you with a very exciting opportunity. Between 11am and 1pm on Tuesday the 5th of May you can meet the Midwives and have a chat in the lovely Vegetarian café as well as experience for free the following activities.

  • A one hour Moon meditation 11-12 noon. Discover a relaxing guided meditation in the peaceful ambiance of The Healthy Spirit.
  • A half hour introduction to The Healthy Spirit, what’s on offer and how to access treatments and health and nutrition advice as well as the gorgeous cafe.
  • A half hour guided meditation for Mum and baby and relaxation tips to take home.

With all our lovely midwives around we can care for your babies whilst you take advantage of all that’s on offer. We are so excited and look forward to seeing you there.
